Our office will give you a specific time for all appointments. We try to be as punctual as possible. We ask that you give us at least 48 hours notice before changing any appointments as a courtesy to us and to our other patients. Please call (860) 449-1643 to make an appointment. The office is located at 489 Route 184, Suite 201, Groton, Connecticut 06340.

We hope that you won't ever experience a dental emergency, but given the chance that you might, Dr. Dean wants you to know that he is always available to help you. TMJ disorders are sometimes caused by a motor vehicle accident. If you are involved in an accident claim we will treat you without payment until your legal case is settled. You must give us a letter of protection from your lawyer. Ultimately you are responsible for the payment regardless of the outcome.

Your comfort and satisfaction is extremely important to Dr. Dean. The majority of procedures are performed with local anesthesia. Before any injections are given, he will apply a topical anesthetic gel which will numb the area. All treatment rooms are wired for soothing music. A wide variety of CD's are available to listen to during treatment.

Incidentally, you will be glad to know that Dr. Dean's patients of record experience very few discomfort problems.

He may also suggest the following:

Intravenous sedation induces a state where most patients become so relaxed that they fall asleep on their own. This technique requires medication to be introduced through one of the patient's veins. This also allows an additional level of safety for patients with certain medical conditions. A local anesthetic is also given once the patient becomes more relaxed.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation:

Nitrous Oxide is available to help with relaxation. You will not be asleep but (laughing gas) is helpful if you are anxious about treatment. Feel free to ask Dr. Dean about this option.

Your initial appointment will consist of a comprehensive examination explaining your diagnosis and treatment options. Our philosophy is to involve you in the process of selecting the best treatment for your unique situation. Generally, no treatment is rendered during this visit. If your dentist or physician has taken x-rays, you may request that they forward the x-rays to our office. If there is not enough time, please pick up the x-rays and bring them to our office.

We are participating providers for Champus, Military Tricare, Blue Cross and Delta Dental Insurance companies. We will be happy to fill out and submit your insurance forms as a courtesy. You are responsible for the portion of treatment costs which your Insurance does not cover.
