dr arthur deanDr. Arthur Dean attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, graduating with his Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree in 1978. He subsequently performed a one-year Hospital Residency at Albert Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia. In 1979, he began a two-year Periodontal Residency at Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry, receiving a specialty certificate in Periodontics in 1981. He has practiced periodontics and implantology in Groton since 1981. The treatment of TMJ and facial pain disorders has been expanded with the addition of physical therapy services for pain and headache relief.

Dr. Dean has been active in the New London County Dental Society. He was an officer on the executive committee for nine years and was the President of the Society in 1995. For eight years, he was director of Continuing Education. He has served on the Dental Insurance Committee of the Connecticut State Dental Society and is a life-long member of the Connecticut Dental Society.

He is active in the Connecticut Society of Periodontists, a group of periodontal specialists throughout the state. He was an officer in the society for many years and  its president in 1997. He is a member of the CSDA, ADA and American Academy of Periodontists.

Dr. Dean has lectured for the Connecticut Society of Periodontists on many occasions on gum diseases, dental implants and TMJ disorders. Dr. Dean directed and hosted “World of Health,” a cable TV health show. He has lectured to the CT. Society of Physical therapists on TMJ therapy.

Dr. Dean has a very conservative approach to TMJ therapy. Using special splints worn on the teeth and physical therapy techniques, many pain sufferers get quick relief. Above all, our aim is to relieve pain as quickly and as conservatively as possible. If you have facial pain and headaches, let us evaluate you. You could be helped.
